DAVENPORT– Go kart racing is back at the Davenport Fairgrounds.
Kevin Williams is doing it in honor of his father who brought the track here more than 20 years ago.
His father, Ken Williams, saw the track come back to life before he passed away in November.
Kevin hopes to preserve his father’s memory by holding a memorial racing series over the summer.
“We had talked about doing a summer series on Wednesday nights this year,” Kevin Williams said.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to hold this series in his memory and he’d be super excited to be here right now.”
Kevin started racing go karts 33 years ago.
His 10 year old son is now keeping the family tradition alive.
The last race of the series is taking place today at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.
Local 4 has exclusive on board footage of what it is like to race on the track.
