UPDATE: In a release from the Davenport Police Department, the victim has been identified as Gage Williams, 27, of Davenport. The incident remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
UPDATE: At 3:39 p.m. Tuesday, Davenport Police, Davenport Fire and Medic EMS were called to the 7000 block of North Division Street for a report of a crash involving a bicyclist, according to a news release from Davenport Police.
Initial investigation indicates that a pickup truck was traveling southbound on Division Street when it struck a bicyclist.
The bicyclist, a 27-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 54-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Names are being withheld at this time pending family notifications. The Davenport Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash. No further information was available Tuesday night.
EARLIER UPDATE: Our Quad Cities News was live on scene. What looked to be a body bag was seen taken into a Crime Scene Unit vehicle at around 5:30 p.m. The Medical Examiner’s Office was on scene surveying the scene with deputies. A pair of shoes could be seen laying between 70th and 71st streets in Davenport. A black pickup truck was seen with police paint marked on it, the hood and bumpers dented, and headlights hanging off of the side of the vehicle. Our Quad Cities News is waiting for the Davenport Police Department for provide official word on the fatal crash.
